Design brief
This is day 24 of my daily logo design challenge. Today's brief was to design a logo for a bicycle shop. The following business names were proposed. SterHip Bikes, Peddle Power, Geared UP. I chose the later and made the assumption it was a bike repair shop.
The logo
The proposed concept is based on a visual element representing a simplified chain ring. The idea is to make it instantly clear this logo is for a bicycle business. By its technical nature, this part of a bike also points to the business being not only a bike reseller, but also a proper bike repair shop.
The selected typeface is a thick and italicized version of Brother 1816 giving movement and strength to that logo. The up word is embedded inside the chain ring with respectively extended stem and descender for the U and p to become the bicycle's crank arms and pedals.
