For my latest photoshoot, I was in Montbonnot-Saint-Martin exploring architectural features at the new Maison des Arts, trying to frame and scale the building in the mighty landscape that surrounds it.
Designed by Grenoble-based architecture practice Aktis and opened a few months ago, the new contemporary space dedicated to the arts is also a new venue for various cultural events in Montbonnot-Saint-Martin. Its unique location at the heart of the Grésivaudan valley, with unobstructed and captivating views of the Belledonne mountain range make it an engaging subject for architecture and landscape photography. Of interest is also a mix of contemporary and traditional with the preservation of an ancient building.
For my first encounter with the new building by a beautiful autumn afternoon, I have mainly focused on capturing the striking perspectives created by wood columns to the west. As reflected by these few shots, my initial focus has also been to frame and scale the building in the landscape, establish a direct connection with the prominent mountain range is faces through compression.
